That's cool!
As much of a mock hard time my DH gives me about my girls, I think he'd do the same thing.
Well, I went to this page about restringing dolls yourself:
http://www.justmagicdolls.com/articl...estringing.htm
I read the whole article and looked at all the "in process" pictures. I was like " no way".
I had DH look at and he said "piece of cake". So, he told me exactly what to get and he would do it.
The man is such a sweet [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img] with me and my girls. This means no girl to check into the hospital when I go to Chicago next weekend and a bigger budget to get my girls some more outfits and acssessories. YIPPEEEE and HEE-HAW!!!!
That's cool!

I tried this out recently and the hardest part was finding the little tube inserts, but now I know where they are located in Home Depot, it is not a big deal and definitely more cost effective.

Thanks for the info about Home Depot wicksasc. I was going to head out to Michaels
for the items. Does Home Depot have all the things there?
You gals are right! Hubbies whine but then help along!
Mine came back from Goodwill the other that with a "sort of microwave cart" so that "you can stash your doll repair and beading stuff"
And when I told him about my most recent monster AG splurge, he did not comment. So I asked him what he thought and the answer was: it is your paycheck, if it keeps you happy!
I guess he thought that once I am on 5th Ave, he'd rather have me stop at AG than at Tiffany's, no?
LOL!
Regarding the restringing: unless one of my dolls is missing a limb all together, she does not get to see the hospital! It is easy enough to do and MUCH cheaper!

Hear, hear! If you are of a crafty bent, like me, you will find re-stringing to be fairly easy, and MUCH cheaper than the AG Hospital! It's only tough to actually remove your dolls' heads for the "surgery"! Quite disconcerting the first time!!
P.S. Lowe's also has the brass inserts.
P.P.S. I'll also re-string for anyone too timid or squeamish to do their own--just PM me!

I really do need to work on a diagram that shows what the joint looks like in cross-section. But then, some people might find that even more intimidating...Originally posted by prasnlrd:

Haha, AG vs. Tiffany's... I can definitely see AG winning there. I guess Tiffany's is reaching out younger and younger- their key chains and little trinkets are VERY big with my little sister's crowd at school!
And here our mom thought AG was a pricey hobby...
this is one of the aspects of my felicity restoration that has me freaked. I'd rather re-wig then re-string. It's in the thinking. I UNDERSTAND exactly how to re-wig, I still don't understand re-stringing. But I'm the type that won't get it until I do it.
I am still incredebly nervouse and as such haven't looked for the parts yet in avoidance. I plan on doing it this week cause I should be getting a wig soon and my goal is to have everything done first.
And how do we clean with baking soda? Get it wet? dry? I have so many questions. It's a good thing this doll was a wreck before she was given to me, cause I am just blundering through everything!
